Hi everyone,
Sorry we haven't been posting anything lately. Well, last thursday we didn't have our meeting, this is because Ms. Teref just came back from Serbia for the reason that her mother passed away. However, we had our meetin/party today. Only a few people came, but it was OK. We also had a Teacher Breakfast yesterday.

November 20
Good Day everyone,
It has been a long time since we had a Student Council meeting. This is because last week was a very short week, only two days of school. Anyway, this week we were supposed to have a Lock in, a sleepover at the school. However, it was moved to another date.
Also, on December 17, some Student Council members will help decorate the Foyer, school lobby, for a teacher's breakfast before winter break. There is also a Scholarship for a person who is both performing in International Night and the musical, and of course there are requirements to get the scholarship, we discussed about what we think should be the requirements.
Tech Committee and who is interested: Please download Skype so that we can have meetings online. It's FREE of course!

During our meeting today we were talking about Student Council Shirts. We already chose a design, however; we have to pay for them. We also talked about going to Washington D.C. for some people and Noemi announce a Harris Fellows Leadership Conference on Dec. 6. And guess who did the Icebreaker. Elmar did for the first time.

Hello
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I didn't get to post anything for the past few weeks, I couldn't get any access to computers. The only things we talked about for the past couple weeks are the Homecoming Committee Updates. We had some trouble with a lot of things.
1. the flyers
We saw the flyers just a couple of days ago and we saw that there were problems with it, there were also a lot of copies (which is somehow a good thing)
2. Homecoming Court
Ms. Melendez said that we sould start earlier with the Homecoming Court applications because right now they don't have about two days for their ads posted up since the due date for applications are today and voting is on Wednesday.
3. Decorations
OK. the decorations are great, we will get them by monday and all we have to do is finish the big HOLLYWOOD sign, which we cut out from foam and will be putting glitter on it.
Oh, and in case I might have forgotten to mention, the Homecoming dance theme is "RHS Goes Hollywood"

New Changes, New council
Good day everyone,
There are some thing I would like to say.
1. The school year just began and the school made a lot of changes.
2. Student Council is now "Student Government." and is now combined into one association with all grade levels combined. No more Student Council by class.
3. finally If you are in the RHS Student Gov't and want to run for office here are things to include in your speech, presentation, etc....
•SC Credentials
►►Years in SC
►►Events you helped/attended
►►Roles you've had in events
►►Previously held positions
•Availability (what periods you will be available)
•Academic Credentials.
♫There is no specific order for these.♪

This day marks the final day of school for the 2007-08 year. They gave awards to some students, and it was about Honor roll, Straight A's, Students of the month, and Perfect attendance. Dr. Alvarez, the principal, also informed us about changes for next year. They are, a later bell schedule so 1st period starts at 7:45 and that the school fee is now $60, excluding event tickets and yearbooks, and there is going to be uniforms...... Have a Great Summer!!!

High School Investigation day
High School Investigationday is a day for future freshmen (8 graders) to learn about our high school by joining with activities or workshops led by the high schoool students. It was fun, most sophomore class representatives came to facilitate, including JROTC and Link Crew. The only problem was that we ran out of food easily. Even though Ms. Melendez ordered 100 lunch boxes.

We had a short meeting today because Ms. Melendez had to talk with Ms. Teref and Mr. Meier about elections for the upcoming year. I am going to run for Junior class President against an unknown pesron depending on who else is running. That is because Noemi, my supposed to be competition, dropped out of the race. "Good Luck!" to everyone running for office, at any school. All we talked about for the meeting was the Leadership Conference on saturday, May 31. Most people who attended were facilitating the same workshop, Cultural Diversity.

=( There was a meeting yesterday after school. I didn't get to go because I had to babysit my brother who is 1 year old. I would have gone, but it was a shortened schedule, and my parents were both busy so I took care of him. Anyways, Huong told me that they talked about the Student Council Awards Ceremony and our Leadership Conference for feeder school. Too bad for me, I feel like i'm missing a lot of information about some events. =(

Final Forum
Today is the last education forum of the year. We talked about ways to improve school. The forum was done by asking teachers to bring some of their students then they ask questions, the ones we made on Tuesday. After all the questioning, everyone presented their answers and there was a raffle. Huong won it. Soon, everyone ate pizza.

May 5-9, 2008

The teachers got their breakfast last wednesday and got pens as gifts after they ate, some student council members got some of those pens because there was more than enough, we think. Also, there were birthdays. on friday we threw a surprise B-day party for Ms. Melendez, a vice principal of the school, and she was really happy. someone also brought a cake for Sandra Rector because her birthday was also this week. Friday, may 9th, it was Dress Like Your Fave. Teacher Day, Gigi dressed like Ms. Teref... hahaha....

Nee, it's almost teacher appreciation week, and thats what we talked about for our meeting today. We had to organize stuff for the last minute, including who has to write a speech for the teacher, how to do the "Penning" ceremony, and who is making the backdrop for the photoshoot. We also asked who is coming next Wednesday at about 6:45 AM. Well, a majority of the students who came to the meeting are going on that time & date. Soon, after the meeting we started posting some of the flyers around the school, but we need a lot more.

Nee, today we were talking about teacher appreciation week, because the sophomore class is in charge of planning. However today we started planning a schedule for that week, from Monday to Friday. Ms. Melendez(Vice Principal) was in the room helping us with the schedule too. Soon, after finishing the schedule we started finding alliterative adjectives with a positive meaning to put together with teachers name. Ms. Teref has already ordered some smiley faced pens as gifts for teachers, hehehe, it also says something "you can make a difference" i thinks.

Nee~ we where talking about the event that is going to take place on May 5th to 9th. It's for the teachers, what do you think it is? I'll tell you, it's Teacher Appreciation Week. We were brainstorming about ideas we should do for that week. A couple of the ideas were "Dress like your favorite teacher." and "Feed the teachers." It should be cool, appreciating the teacher for all that they have done for every student.

For this meeting we all talked about how lame we are...... Hehehe, April Fools.... NO, actually we were talking about some ideas for the upcoming events, such as Teacher Appreciation Week, yup one whole week. I think we still need more ideas though because it's for a whole week and we might not have enough to do. Then another event is having an assembly with 8th graders, and some other events which we are still going to talk about. For the Monday of next week, Huong, Jeni A. and I will have strangers follow us to our classes, Creepy don't you think... Oh and I forgot to mention, Sandra is back from Washington D.C..

March 25, 2008
Nya~ what a short meeting we had today. Mr. Meier and our now so called substitute secretary led the meeting. filled out the registration form for the Chicago District Student Council Assosiation (CDSCA). A funny thing is that while Mr. Meier was reading it out loud we heard a lot of the phrase CDSCA. Too much repetition, hehehe. oh, and the substitute secretary was Huong because the Secretary, Sandra Rector, wasn't at school.

At the dinner, they will present a powerpoint, which is being made by the Class of 2010 members. Sandra, Elmar and Huong finished the first half of the presentation with the help of Ms. Teref.

Today, we had a meeting for upperclassmen so that we could talk about our school. We are posting this because students from the class of 2010 had an important role in this event. We had fun talking about what was good and bad about our school. We also learned what improvements some people wanted for the school. After talking we all ate pizza and chips. Also, 10 lucky people won prizes. The error from the flyer is very obvious once you look at it.Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Today we talked about how we should plan the meeting on Thursday. That meeting is about upperclassmen talking about our school and having the potential to win cool prizes. We also talked about how we should advertise for this event. Also, we talked about our notes we took when interviewing freshmen and summarized them.
